Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal
The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has proposed a budget of N861bn for the 2026 fiscal year.
The governor while presenting the appropriation bill before the state House of Assembly said N715bn was earmarked for capital expenditure, representing 83 per cent of the budget.
Lawal added that N147.2bn, representing 17 per cent, was allocated for recurrent expenditure.
The health sector received the highest allocation of N87bn, followed by agriculture, which also got N87bn.
The education sector was allocated N65bn, N45bn for public order and safety, N22bn for environmental protection, and N17bn for social protection.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s effort to restore trust in public institutions, rebuild critical sectors, and lay a solid foundation for sustainable development.
He said, “The people of Zamfara State, who once despaired under neglect, now see visible light, progress, accountability, and renewed direction.”
Describing the 2026 proposal as a budget of “Stability and Growth,” the governor said it represents the next phase of his administration’s development agenda.
“It is not merely a financial plan; it is a political commitment to entrench stability in governance and accelerate the growth our citizens yearn for,” he stated.
He said the budget reflect his administration’s Six-Point Rescue Agenda to strengthen security architecture, modernising agriculture, upgrading healthcare, and expanding access to quality education.
He said the budget would also accelerate infrastructural renewal and empower youths, women, and vulnerable groups.
