The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke
Adeola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State has pledged his administration’s commitment to strengthen technical and vocational education in the state.
He said this during the 35th anniversary celebration of the Osun State Polytechnic Alumni Association in Osogbo.
He hinted that, his administration was deepening collaborations between industry and academia to ensure graduates possess not only certificates but practical skills pertinent for employment.
At the ceremony, the alumni honoured the National Secretary of the All-Progressives Congress, Ajibola Basiru; the Executive Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority, Olalekan Badmus; and a former Deputy Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Abidemi Ogunkanmi, with awards.
The association also honoured the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal; the Eburu of Iba, Oba Adekunle Okunoye; a Chief Magistrate, Dr. Olusegun Ayilara; as well as other traditional rulers and distinguished individuals within and outside the state.
The National President of the alumni association, Yakub Adebayo, said the group had continued to support one another, share opportunities, and uplift members, demonstrating the true spirit of its motto.
“Our alumni have excelled in various fields—from business and entrepreneurship to academia, the arts, and public service—and their accomplishments inspire us to strive for more,” he added.
Adeleke, who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, described the 35th anniversary as a celebration of vision, growth, and impact, adding that the future of the polytechnic must be built on the strong foundation laid over the past three and a half decades.
He said the institution, founded 35 years ago with a vision to offer practical, industry-driven learning, had grown into a “beacon of technical and vocational education,” producing thousands of skilled graduates who are contributing to the nation’s socio-economic development.
