From budgeting to saving, students explored practical lessons that will support smarter financial choices for years to come.
Citi partnered with Junior Achievement Nigeria to deliver financial literacy training to over 100 students during its annual Global Community Day, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to economic growth and advancing priority towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Global Community Day is Citi’s longstanding tradition of mobilizing colleagues, alumni, family and friends to contribute time, skills and expertise in support of the communities it serves.
This initiative reflects Citi’s global approach to volunteerism as a key enabler of inclusive growth and local impact.
As part of this year’s activities in Lagos, Citi volunteers, working alongside Junior Achievement Nigeria, delivered structured financial literacy sessions focused on budgeting, saving, and responsible financial decision-making.
The collaboration leverages JAN’s proven expertise in youth economic education and entrepreneurship, ensuring the delivery of practical, high-impact learning outcomes.
The initiative aligns with Citi’s commitment to expanding financial capability and directly supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening access to relevant, skills-based learning.
It also advances SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by equipping young people with foundational financial knowledge essential for effective participation in the economy.
Through the combined effort with Junior Achievement Nigeria, Citi continues to scale programs that promote financial inclusion, economic empowerment, and long-term resilience—core priorities of the Citi Foundation.
Speaking on the impact of the partnership, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Citibank Nigeria Limited Nneka Enwereji, said, “Through Global Community Day, we continue to invest in initiatives that expand financial capability and support inclusive economic growth.
“Our collaboration with Junior Achievement Nigeria enables us to deliver meaningful, practical learning experiences that equip young people with the tools to succeed,” Enwereji added.
Similarly, the Acting Executive Director, Junior Achievement Nigeria, Olaolu Akogun said, “At Junior Achievement Nigeria, we are committed to equipping young people with the skills and mindset needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving economy.
“Our longstanding partnership with Citi continues to create meaningful opportunities for students to gain practical financial knowledge and build confidence in their future. Initiatives like this demonstrate the impact of collective action in advancing youth empowerment and economic inclusion,” Akogun said.
Citi recognizes the critical role of its volunteers, community partners and Volunteer Leaders in delivering sustained impact through this global initiative with contributions that has helped driven solutions that are locally relevant and aligned with broader development priorities.
Global Community Day also provides an opportunity to recognize organizations like Junior Achievement Nigeria that advance community development and youth empowerment.
Citi remains committed to strengthening such collaborations and scaling interventions that deliver measurable social outcomes. By leveraging its global network and trusted local partnerships, Citi continues to support pathways to economic opportunity while contributing to the achievement of the SDGs.
