The Lagos State Government Special Adviser on Islamic Matters, Dr Jebe Abdullahi has called on Nigerians to support government efforts to bring about meaningful changes even as he called for concerted efforts to sustain religious harmony across faiths in Lagos State.
He added that all Nigerians should ensure unity at all levels and shun religious intolerance.
He called for more support for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, to deliver democratic dividends.
According to him, “It is a truism that Lagos State remains the most accommodating state in Nigeria today, and this is achievable because it has a template for peace among different faiths. The Ministry of Home Affairs has been charged with this responsibility.
“The peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationship among different faiths is a result of the consistent promotion of unity, peace, and justice through the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council—the body saddled with the responsibility of providing religious leaders with a platform to promote understanding among leaders and followers, as well as laying the foundation for sustainable peace and religious harmony,” he said.
He also lauded the administration of President Bola Tinubu for the economic reforms it has embarked upon in the last two years
