Former Senator, Philip Aduda
Former Senator, Philip Aduda, who recently moved to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from his former party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said, he did so to ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
He spoke at the party’s national secretariat after meeting with the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
While in office, he represented the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Senate.
In a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Karu Ward in Abuja, Aduda disclosed that his defection was with immediate effect.
According to him, “I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the PDP with immediate effect due to the crisis in the party.”
He commended the party for the opportunity given him to serve in various elective positions during his political career.
Speaking further, Aduda said he decided to realign and work for president Tinubu to champion his victory in 2027.
He said, “I’m sure we’ll coast to victory by the special grace of God. It will not be anything difficult. At the last FCT Area Council elections, we collaborated and won five out of the six area councils. I can assure you that it will be six over six by the grace of God at some point.
“And by the special grace of God, we will deliver for the president in 2027,” he said.
While welcoming Aduda to APC, Yilwatda said that all the progressives in Nigeria were aligning and identifying with the party which he described as the biggest forum of progressives in Nigeria.
“Because of the progressive nature of APC and the programmes of Mr President through the Renew Hope agenda, every progressive in Nigeria is queuing behind us.”
