The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspect following the deaths of a gospel artiste and three others, who were reportedly found lifeless inside a music studio in Ajah, Lagos State.
The victims—gospel artiste Matthew Ogundele, Itunu Ogundele, Joseph Sanya, and blogger Matthew Awosanya, popularly known as JoesTv—were discovered on Wednesday inside a studio located within the HFP Shopping Complex, Abraham Adesanya axis of Ajah.
Reacting to the stocking death, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the case, had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
According to Adebisi, “The incident was first reported at the Ajah Division but later transferred to SCID. One suspect, identified as the organiser of the event, is currently in custody. Investigation is ongoing, and we are awaiting the autopsy report.”
According to the police, the studio facility owner, Akintayo Akinbola, reported the incident, disclosing that the deceased were part of a gospel music crew invited to perform at a birthday praise programme organised by his wife.
According to police, the artistes concluded their session late on Tuesday and decided to stay overnight in the studio. The following morning, the studio owner returned to find the door locked from the inside. Upon forcing it open, he discovered the four deceased.
Investigators reportedly found no visible signs of violence on the bodies. The victims were confirmed dead at Mainland Hospital, Yaba, and their remains were deposited at the Mainland General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
