President Bola Tinubu on Thursday sworn in General Christopher Musa (retd.) as the new Minister of Defence of Nigeria.
Musa, a former Chief of Defence Staff, took the oath of office at the State House, Abuja.
Recall that the Senate on Wednesday confirmed his appointment as the Minister of Defence which followed a series of screening.
During the screening exercise, Musa was grilled over recent security lapses in different section of the country.
He told lawmakers he would “immediately set up a full-scale investigation” into the troop withdrawal once he assumes duty.
Musa vows to probe killings
Musa also vowed to probe the killing of Brigade Commander Brig-Gen. Musa Uba in Borno State, along with other attacks on senior military officers.
Musa’s appointment followed the resignation of former Defence Minister, Mohammed Badaru, reportedly on health grounds.
Musa is a former Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, the North-East counter-insurgency, and later served as Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, coordinating joint operations against Boko Haram/ISWAP and bandit networks before his retirement this October.
