The Lions Clubs International, District 404B3 Nigeria is set to engage in policy implementation and programs aimed at addressing food insecurity and mental health cases in a bid to fight hunger and curb stigmatization revolving mental health victims in Nigeria.
Lion Adelaja Adeleye, the new District Governor, said this at the 2025-2026 Lions Service Year press briefing in Lagos which collided with a handing over ceremony of the past leadership ballot to a new administration and held in Lagos on Tuesday.

The event with the theme, ‘Impacting Lives’, Lion Adeleye affirmed that his regime would focus on creating meaning impacts in communities to boost growth and development.
Shortly after he was handed the responsibility to pilot the affairs of the administration, Lion Adeleye said his government would focus attention on relieving hunger, tackling cases of mental health through purposeful campaigns, membership drive and the support of meaningful initiatives aimed at promoting environmental responsibility among others.
The new District Governor also affirmed that he would leverage and build on the past administration achievement to foster sustanable growth and development as well as ensuring he raises the bar of service, touching lives and positively impacting his community.
In his words, “This year, we are inspired by the theme from our international president, ‘Lead to Serve, Serve to Lead’. This phrase reminds us that true leadership is rooted in service, and service is the gateway to genuine leadership.
“Hence, we shall be implementing feeding programs and food security projects in all communities across our District.
“This year we shall embark on the Remodeling and refurbishment of the Dinning Facilities at Lagos State Model Junior College, Ojo to complete the phase II of the project.
“We will also launch campaigns to raise awareness, provide support and reduce the stigma and challenges faced by mental health victims because mental health is a global issue and a healthy mind is essential for a thriving community.
“In essence, Lions Clubs is demonstrating a strong commitment to both food security; providing food support to vulnerable populations, and mental well-being, recognizing the interconnectedness of these issues and working to create lasting positive impacts on the communities they serve,” he said.
He explained further that, ” The District will focus on initiatives that genuinely change lives and foster sustanable community development.”
He called on members to embrace unity and share commitment for greater impact.
“With clubs located throughout Nigeria, we strive to address the unique needs of our local communities and collaborate with fellow Lions Clubs globally. This global network allows us to create sustainable change, providing access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, combating climate change, and promoting peace and international understanding. We are part of a worldwide movement dedicated to serving those most in need,” he added.
Earlier, the Immediate Past District Governor, 404B3 Nigeria, Lion (Dr.) Ibrahim Bello, during his goodwill message, hailed the new Governor for his leadership prowess in taking the club forward.
He said, “I am confident that Lion Adeleye will take the district to a greater height because he is a man of accountability, transparency and integrity. I am confident that the District is poised for greater service impact and relevance in the years ahead.
Speaking of his administration, he said it was marked with strategic leadership, innovation and impactful communities reach.
He said, “This Lions year under my watch was marked by renewed energy, strategic leadership, innovation, impactful community service and exemplary team spirit.
“With a shared vision under the theme, “Serving Humanity”, the District took bold steps in leadership development, membership expansion, club extension, service delivery, financial sustainability, and institutional growth.
“District Membership Strength grew from 1,531 to 1,783, reflecting a net gain of 252 members, amounting to a 16.46% net growth.
“The 2024-2025 Lions Service Year stands as a testimony to what focused leadership, teamwork, and service-driven commitment can achieve. From growth in membership to expanded service reach and strengthened club health, District 404B3 Nigeria has charted a course of excellence.”
